Aims
The Challenge centres on new design partnerships between designers and disabled people. It aims to:
- raise the importance of inclusive design as a tool for business advantage and innovation to the Hong Kong design and business communities
- show how disabled people can be vital part of the design process as a proactive template for social inclusion
- equip designers and design educators with the necessary tools for inclusive design through the medium of a mentored design competition and develop their social responsibility
- form a new East Asian network of collaborating organisations involving design teams from Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing, Chongqing, Singapore, Malaysia and Korea via the British Council regional network.
- share UK expertise in Inclusive Design and increase the capacity of designers or design educators in the China and East Asia region to engage with disadvantaged community in the process of innovation;
- put disabled community at the heart of innovation process and increase the understanding of the needs of disadvantaged groups, ensuring that the city is inclusive and accessible to a diverse range of people
