Challenge teams
Each design team is led by a UK mentor:
Gero Grundmann Gero is a multidisciplinary designer who runs Studio Bec – Design Communication Translation and develops products for the arts, design, cultural, educational, sustainability and beyond-profit sector. He teaches at a number of UK design schools. Gero holds an MA in Communication Art and Design from the Royal College of Art and is a former Research Associate of the Helen Hamlyn Centre.

David Hamilton David studied Product Design at Glasgow School of Art and Industrial Design at the Royal College of Art. He has worked for 11 years at Priestman Goode, the award-winning product, environment and transport design consultancy, with clients such as Airbus, Lever Faberge and Marks & Spencer. David worked with the Helen Hamlyn Centre on the DBA Inclusive Design Challenge in 2000.

Guy Robinson Guy trained as a Manufacturing Engineer at Cambridge University, followed by an MA in Industrial Design at the Royal College of Art and Imperial College. As a Research Associate for the Helen Hamlyn Centre, his revolutionary sports crutches won him various awards. Guy started Sprout Design in 2004 with Robert Brown to commercially explore inclusive and sustainable design methodologies. Sprout were the winners of the 24hr Inclusive Design Challenge 2007.

Alistair Russell Alistair has over 10 years design experience in Europe and Asia Pacific, creating 3D design solutions that effectively communicate brands. His work stretches across FMCG packaging, point of sale and retail environments for global brands including Carlsberg, Diageo, P&G, Boots, Virgin, Kraft, Jacob Suchard and Unicorn Bots. Bloom has a record of creativity, strategy and delivery for blue chip clients and entrepreneurial status alike.

Matthew White Matthew studied Industrial Design Engineering at the Royal College of Art and became a Research Associate for the Helen Hamlyn Centre in 2000. His main client is B&Q plc, where he has created and developed products including power tools and garden products. Other work involves innovations and associated IP, and working directly with manufacturers in Europe and the Far East to develop innovative, well engineered and commercially viable products.

Matt Wright After four years at Brunel University studying Product Design, Matt joined the New Product Development department at Dyson. Matter design innovative products and structural packaging across the office furniture, office products, food and drink and personal care sectors, for world-leading brands such as Reckitt Benckiser, ACCO, Herman Miller and Diageo. Matter took part in the DBA Inclusive Design Challenge 2006 with their inclusively designed fire extinguisher, Houdini.
